The 'Seattle Monolith' is a monolith that was constructed on new years day in 2001 as a tribute to the classic "2001: A Space Odyssey Monolith" film. The monolith was moved a few times, ending up in Interbay, Seattle.

The Monolith was fabricated by Louie Raffloer at Seattle's Black Dog Forge. It was a hollow structure measuring 1 by 4 by 9 feet (0.30 m × 1.2 m × 2.7 m), the same proportions as the Monoliths of the "Space Odyssey" series.

Initially, the artists creating the Monolith had the idea that the public would never know where the Monolith came from or who constructed it. That changed after the Monolith was removed from the park and found on Duck Island. Artist Caleb Schaber came forward as a spokesperson for Monolith announcing a group of artists named "Some People" were responsible for the art.

The Antarctica Ice Shelf A68 monolithic iceberg that appeared in late 2018. The resulting iceberg was around 175 km long and 50 km wide, 5800 sq km in area, 200 m thick and weighed an estimated one trillion tonnes.

The Centennial Sculpture Project existed before the utah monolith was discovered but strikes an uncanny resemblance. The “Sentinels” were dedicated on September 6, 2019, and were created by Devin Laurence. These copper-colored "Sentinels" stand 20-feet tall, making them one of the tallest monoliths

It says “here something important happened.” Aptly named “Sentinels,” it pays homage to those who came before – to those whose presence lives on in what they left behind.

On November 18, 2020, state biologists of the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources were carrying out a survey of bighorn sheep from a helicopter when one of the biologists spotted the pillar.  According to satellite images, it was installed sometime after August 2015 and before October 2016.

After much speculation about the monolith, the art group The Most Famous Artist took credit for the Utah Monolith. Monolith photos posted by the group do not match the build quality nor the shape of the original monolith. It is widely thought that the group is simply capitalizing on the popularity of the story, and they did not in fact build the first monolith. The true artist is still unknown at this time.

Since, the BLM has seized the monolith. They cite the issue of people removing anything from public lands, and in this case if the public owns the art.

Shortly after the Utah monolith vanished, this monolith was discovered in Piatra Neamt, Romania. Shortly afterwards it also disappeared. This Monolith is significant because is was the one that followed the Utah monolith, setting the trend.

On December 2, 2020, a triangular reflective metal column was found on Pine Mountain in Atascadero, California. Unlike other monolith like the one in Utah, this one was not secured to the ground. On December 4, three young men, from Orange County, referring to themselves as military veterans, livestreamed themselves destroying the monolith, replacing it with a large wooden cross and chanting "Christ is king!".

On December 5, a group of four artists (Wade McKenzie, Travis Kenney, Randall Kenney and Jared Riddle) revealed that they were the creators of the original structure, and after it was toppled, decided to replace it. According to one of the artists, Wade McKenzie, “We intended for it to be a piece of guerrilla art. But when it was taken down in such a malicious manner, we decided we needed to replace it.” The next day, the local deputy city manager, Terrie Banish, said that the city was "happy to see it return".

Pittsburgh monolith appeared outside of a Candy Shop. It been reported by WPXI that "Candy store owner Christopher Beers put it up to attract some customers".

On December 4, 2020, a black-colored monolith appeared in Prlekija. It was staff of the Nature Protection Office that discovered the monolith. The exact location of the monolith has not been revealed, as of yet.

In a PR stunt a monolith was constructed in a nature reserve in Konduki.

Reporter Doug O’Brien reported on December 04, 2020 that a metallic monolith appeared in Houston. He reports that this is the first one to appear in a major city. No one knows where it came from or who is responsible for it’s sudden arrival.

This monolith is a "Sponsored" monolith, setup by a Stainless company. This monolith is set in concrete into a tree stump.

This monolith was created by Bill Zempel, the head mechanic at neighboring business next to the Colorado Spaceport, in Watkins, CO. The Colorado Space Port is one of 11 locations in the country with the license given by the Federal Aviation Administration with the eventual goal to create a hub for commercial space travel and research.

Canada can't be left out without it's own Monolith. This one appeared over the weekend in Manitoba, only to disappear the following Monday.

On Saturday Dec 5th another monolith appeared in Germany, and stood until Wednesday Dec 9th. A day after discovery the monolith was toppled, then re-erected. It was ultimately destroyed by unknown people, after which the remains were removed by the city.

Construction of the monolith is flimsy, with large seams between the panel edges, clearly visible on many photos. The interior structure is made of wood, described as 'very earthly'.
